New Sewing and Knitting Books of Awesomeness!

For Christmas this year I got a few new sewing books and a vintage knitting book that I am super excited about.  I want to dive right into them and make loads of their projects.  I do however need to take a beginners sewing class, so that I can get up to speed and remember everything I have forgotten over the last 20 years of not making any clothing.  The first book is Knitting Vintage by Claire Montgomerie, pictured here:

Lately I have been getting into Japanese pattern books.  Their clothing designs are simple and practical and full of fun style that you can wear in many different combinations. I really can't wait to make items from these books and be able to be cozy, stylish, and know that I MADE THEM! These books were previously only available in Japanese, but over the last few months have been published and available in English (YIPPEE!).  Both books are put out by Interweave Press and are available at most booksellers as well as interweave.com.  If you have never checked the site out, please do so, it is amazing.  Simple Modern Sewing: 8 Basic Patterns to Create 25 Favorite Garments by Shufu To Seikatsu and I am Cute Dresses by Sato Watanabe are two to really check out! Yay for Christmas presents...

The last book I will share today is also very cool and is The Colette Sewing Handbook by Sarai Mitnick.  This book can be found at most book sellers and can also be found at their website http://www.colettepatterns.com/.  This site is great for tutorials, patterns, and has a great blog.

Happy reading and creating!
